Last August 30th in the area of Delta del Ebro for the first time was celebrated the Demonstrative Day of Dry Sowing in the Ebro Delta organized by Ebrecultius SL, a fertilizer and phytosanitary distribution company on the left margin of the river Ebro (The area affected by the pest of Caracol Manzana) in collaboration with the companies it distributes in its area of action: BASF, EDYPRO biotechnologia, ICL, RiceTec, Sipcam, Maschio Gaspardo, Fertilizantes Gombau.

Dry sowing is a technique widely used in the USA, South American countries, in Italy also an important part of the rice area is sowed dry.

With the knowkedge of this technique for the management of rice cultivation in Uruguay EDYPRO in the 2014 has developed:

THE DRY SEED MANUAL

This manual from EDYPRO has been distributed to our main Distributors in different parts of Spain and we are very proud to see how this technique has been implemented in Extremadura (Vegas Altas), Girona (Pals), and in the case of Delta in Left margin.

Carlos Fornos, the Technical Director and the Manager of Ebrecultius accepted from the beginning with great enthusiasm this technique to be able to coexist with the Apple Snail. Our reflection is the Caracol Manzana is very present in the area of ??the cultivation of the Uruguayan Southeast (Laguna Merín) and with dry planting the problem is non-existent and is cultivated in a perfect way and without any difficulty. Last year 2015 Carlos Fornos already dared to plant some of his fields in direct sowing and has managed to find the perfect functionality and handling the crop with its particularities. This year the sowing volume has been in complete farms with an excellent result in the management of the weeds by the application of the preemergent herbicides post-sowing.

And then he has been able to use EDYPRO biotechnology as a bioregulator of rice cultivation EDYFRUIT ARROZ.

In this day we have presented the rice fields planted in dry with tillage and direct sowing on the stubble. At the same time the attendees have been able to assess aspects of crop management that concern them:

• The damage caused by pests, such as the Caracol Manzana and Chironomids, and the birds are minimized - due to fact that the most sensitive period rice plant passes without water, which is the mean that attracts these natural enemies of the crop.
• The management of weeds with the application of preemergence herbicides, which allows control of weeds before they are established, giving added advantages to rice plants.
• The ease of treatments, most of which are done before flooding and the farmer can work more comfortable using the rubber wheels (wide tires).

The great importance of the innovations presented in the Field Day has been confirmed with the great interest of the farmers, the questions and the comments that they have made during the day.

In the field route we have visited a plot of variety Bomba sewed in dry soil and treated with EDYFRUIT ARROZ in the 1^st treatment of postemergence herbicide.

As you can see in the photos below, the field treated has a density of spikes much higher than the plot of the same variety and also sown dry. The cultivation treated with EDYFRUIT ARROZ generates a feeling of a strong and consistent crop, with a promise of a very good yield.
